Arrrrr...Land Ahoy! Pirate facts

Today I have written some interesting facts about pirates. I hope you enjoy them!

  • A pirate is a robber on sea. Pirates attack ships and ports stealing treasure and other goods.
  • The Greek islands were home to some of the earliest known pirates because there were many cargo ships trading along the Mediterranean coast.

  • The Roman leader Pompei sent a huge fleet to wipe out the pirates of the Mediterranean.
  • When a pirate captain decided to attack, he raised a special flag.

  • All pirates dreamed of gold and silver. Some were lucky enough to capture ships packed with them.
  • Pirates often hid their treasure by burying it in a remote spot. Then they could dig it up later.

  • Violent storms and shipwrecks were a pirate's biggest nightmare
  • Some pirate captains had strict rules such as no fighting on-board and keeping candles burning after 8 o'clock in the night. Pirates who did not obey their captain were marooned. Marooning means when a pirate or person was left alone on a deserted island.
  • Edward Teach was the most terrifying pirate on the high seas and was better known as Blackbeard

  • Pirates are not a thing of the past. There are still plenty of pirates operating on the seas today.

My trip to the cinema

Yesterday I went to the cinema to watch a movie called Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron and the movie was very long. The movie was two hours and twenty one minutes. The characters in the movie are Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Vision, Nicky Fury, Thor and Ultron.  My favourite of them all was Vision because I love the look of him and the crystal on his forehead looks valuable. My favourite part was when they were defeating Ultron.

Did you know that Hulk abandoned the movie, that means he may never appear in Marvel movies in the future.

When we were buying the tickets Dad also bought me a kid's meal and it had popcorn, Sprite and an Oreo and it was delicious.

My trip to Sentosa and Universal Studios Singapore

My trip to Sentosa was memorable. Universal Studios in Singapore is pretty scary because the most dangerous ride is named Revenge of the Mummy and I luckily got to go on it. I have been on many rides, but this was the scariest and fortunately for me, it was a short ride!

My first ride was the Transformers ride which was with 3D glasses. It was fun as I was thrown out of a building and it felt real!

Next, I went to the World of Shrek which was a 4D experience. It takes us to Far Far Away Land and our seats bumped and jumped during the film and I nearly fell off the chair!

After that we went into Jurassic Park and rode on the Jurassic Park Rapids. You don't just see scary dinosaurs, you also get soaked!

We watched a show called Water World and it was thrilling. It was a performance with stuntmen that had shooting, fire, jumping from heights and lots of water.

This was just a few of the rides I went on today! If you want to know more, leave a comment below.

The Night Safari

My safari was amazing because I got to see many nocturnal animals. Firstly, we went on a tram ride and saw:

  • Bongos
  • Tigers
  • Tapirs
  • Elephants
  • Bats
  • Slow lorises
  • Capybaras
  • Lions
  • Clouded leopards
  • Pythons
  • Glowing scorpions
...wow that is a lot of animals!

As soon as we got off the tram we saw a dangerous fire show which was scary but fun. I will never try this at home. Next we went on a fun nature trail by foot and we saw more animals.

My granddad bought me a glow-in-the-dark T-Shirt. I had an amazing time.

Tomorrow, I will write about my trip to Sentosa.

Birds adventure

At last the day has come for me to see beautiful birds in Jurong Bird Park! My Dad, Mum and myself set off early in the morning to see the lovely birds.

At the beginning we had a thrilling time watching birds of prey like eagles, owls, hawks, falcons and vultures perform. Did you know that an owl can turn its head 270 degrees?

Then we went to feed lories and they ate right out of my hand. I took some pictures on my iPad because I want to remember this day.

I then saw the highest man-made waterfall. I even saw an angry bird who tried to peck me! Finally, we went to a shop and I bought a soft toy eagle and I named him Jurong. I will take him to England because I want to show and tell my friends at school.

My Thursday Experience

My experience was superb because I saw crocodiles, pandas, leopards, Caribbean flamingos and many more animals for the first time. My favourite of them all was the pandas because they are very furry and my second favourite was a dangerous anaconda because they squeeze their prey to death. Full of excitement I went on a ride called the Amazon River Quest and I even saw scary looking Jaguars.

There were two giant crocodiles in a big tank and they looked horrible!

It was raining cats and dogs as soon as we set off to the safari park. Despite feeling sad about the weather I had an amazing time discovering about the habitat of river animals.

My flight to Singapore

My flight with Emirates was amazing because I was treated well. Smiling happily I went on my favourite airline and I was excited. The massive plane had a colourful tail with the colours red, black and green. The sign that says Emirates is in bright gold.

The flight we were on took us first to Dubai and then we took another plane to Singapore. Luckily I sat beside a window. Peeping out of the window I saw white clouds, green and white mountains, the hot dessert, big and small islands and big cities underneath me. On the plane I got some toys and a backpack which  made me feel overjoyed. After a long flight I arrived in Singapore ready to start an exciting adventure.

The bike accident

When I was coming home I had a massive accident and I had pouring blood on my head. This happened because I took a very sharp turn and I went too low. This happened in the Grove Park in Carshalton.

Suddenly I fell off my bike and I closed my eyes. When I came home I looked in the mirror and I looked like Count Dracula which made me happy! As a result mum took me to St Helier hospital swiftly. At the hospital we followed the paw prints to the children's waiting area and waited for a doctor to see me. I was in real pain because not just my cut on the head, also my knee was grazed. The doctor had a good look on my head and he put glue on my wound so it would heal soon. The doctor said don't put water on the wound. I came home exhausted but learnt my lesson. And the lesson was to be careful when riding a bicycle.
